Hand-embroidered Marin Blouse

240.00

Lightweight navy cotton tie-front blouse with boxy silhouette and hand-embroidered detail throughout. The symbol on the back is the 'Pakudos' that is believed to bring protection to the wearer.

Mangyan women can take a month to complete these traditional shirts, which are actually menswear in their culture. Embroidery was historically the shortest part of the process as they would plant, harvest, separate, dry, spin, and then weave the cotton fibers. Today, however, the cotton is purchased at the market and then cut, assembled + embroidered.
