This quintessential Filipino fabric is made from fibers harvested from the pineapple plant and blended with pure raw silk. This particular Piña is unbleached and undyed, and woven by hand on a Spanish style loom. The silk gives the stiffer pineapple fiber a softer hand and drape, it is ideal for embroidery as you can see in many historical examples.
