Piña Silk Handwoven Cloth -Annatto

Light weight: suitable for bridal, delicate garments and some home applications/window treatments.

This quintessential Filipino fabric is made from fibers harvested from the pineapple plant and blended with pure raw silk. This particular Piña is unbleached, hand-dyed with Filipino annatto seeds, and woven by hand on a Spanish style loom. The silk gives the stiffer pineapple fiber a softer hand and drape, it is ideal for embroidery as you can see in many historical examples.

  • 29”wide and sold by the yard.

  • Fabric has selvedge edge on long sides.

  • stripes run vertically

  • Expect subtle variation in color and texture throughout

  • Spot clean by hand when possible. Hand wash, air dry flat. Do not soak, machine wash or use a dryer.

  • Purchase a sample to check the color and weight

  • 50% Piña 50% raw silk, dyed with annatto (aswete)
